My dad remarried again when my birth mother died in 2000, My stepmother was not fair to me and my siblings, she treated her kids better, our father was always on the road, he was a truck driver. My stepmother has always been a thief, she once got caught stealing a pair of pants and turtle candy from wal mart and they press charges, she went to jail for 3 months….My father died in 2005 from mesothelioma and I moved out right away, because I was sick and tired of my stepmother, but we recently found out that she is still getting my father’s SSI checks and cashing them, he been dead for 5 years now….I’m wondering how can I find out if this is true, so I can put her in jail. We also was told that their will be an compensation, because my father passed away from an asbestos-related disease, I’m almost 100% positive that the money might go to our stepmother and her kids….Do anyone know how that works?? I’m just in a tough situation and I want her put in jail, because 3 months was not long enough!!! Any advice will be appreciated!! Thanks 
talk to a personal injury lawyer and he should be able to help you with both things. And he shouldn’t charge you unless he collects some money for you.
You first need to contact the Social Security Administration and explain yourself to them as to what you think may be going on. You then need to go to your local courthouse and ask to speak to the appropriate person there in regards to your dads and moms death and what your stepmom is doing. I am so sorry you are going through this I just cannot imagine the pain you must be feeling. Go to the authorities and really dont give up until you get answers. Your dads kids and wife are entitled to things she cannot push you out of that and the courts know that. Do it, be strong and do it. Good luck sweety.
you need to talk to a lawyer. the checks should have stopped coming at he time of your fathers death and its illegal for her to keep getting them.

That is horrible, what you are going through. I hope you can find some help with your issue. If I were you I’d post this in Law & Ethics or Law Enforcement & Police (click on goverment then you’ll see these catorgories). I’m sure you’ll get good advise as to what to do. At least I believe you will.
