My dad remarried again when my birth mother died in 2000, My stepmother was not fair to me and my siblings, she treated her kids better, our father was always on the road, he was a truck driver. My stepmother has always been a thief, she once got caught stealing a pair of pants and turtle candy from wal mart and they press charges, she went to jail for 3 months….My father died in 2005 from mesothelioma and I moved out right away, because I was sick and tired of my stepmother, but we recently found out that she is still getting my father’s SSI checks and cashing them, he been dead for 5 years now….I’m wondering how can I find out if this is true, so I can put her in jail. We also was told that their will be an compensation, because my father passed away from an asbestos-related disease, I’m almost 100% positive that the money might go to our stepmother and her kids….Do anyone know how that works?? I’m just in a tough situation and I want her put in jail, because 3 months was not long enough!!! Any advice will be appreciated!! Thanks

Call the police and say that she molested you.
Talk to someone in the Social Security office maybe. Do you have a copy of the Death Certificate by chance? Might help.
The govt of the United States thinks that 3 months is long enough. If you have concerns hire a private investigator and a lawyer. Or report her to the IRS. You have options.
Of course you “hearing” something and it being true are totally different things potentially, don’t you think? It sounds like you are resentful and maybe you have your reasons, but it isn’t against the law to love her kids more. I’m sorry for your loss, move on let the revenge idea go.
YOU CONTACT THESE PEOPLE HERE ON THIS SITE . . . . .

the best way to know if she is breaking the law is to check with a local police officer (and i know if you do not live some where in the woods where the property lines are over a mile long you should be able to find one quickly) and just tell him the problem and ask if it is or isnt against the law.
and personally i think that you being blood related to your father should get all or most of it. i belive your step mother should not get any of the money because of her criminal history.
this has never happened to me nor have i had this question come to me so if what i am saying is wrong please correct me.
You need to contact the social security administration immediately. You will need your father’s ss number. Ask them about survivors benefits. . . meaning you and your siblings if any are underage. Her children cannot collect off your dad. If she is collecting, it is fraud. BIG fraud. And they will (the SS) pick up on any benefits going out at this time.
As for the compensation, your best bet is to consult with an attorney. Most of the so called compensation is small and from class action lawsuits. If in fact there is such compensation, you would be well advised to get your name in before your former stepmother does. And depending on how long they were married, she may not be eligible.
If any of your dad’s children have disabilities they may be able to collect SS from his benefits. Depending on age and circumstances.
Very best of luck to you sweetie. . . . . . . .
She is entiteled to the money as his spouse. nothing illegal about it. If a settlement is paying out. than as his spouse. she is entitled to the money. Stop hold a grudge, I doubt its what your father would have wanted.
